Police appeal for witnesses over rape in Margate QEQM car park

Officers investigating the reported rape of a woman in Margate are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

It was reported that the sexual assault took place in a vehicle in a staff car park within the grounds of the Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother hospital in Ramsgate Road, Margate between 9pm and 10pm on Wednesday 21 August.

Both parties are believed to be known to each other.

A 25-year-old man from Margate was arrested on Sunday 25 August in connection with the incident and currently remains in custody.

Officers would like to hear from anyone who may have seen a black Suzuki Swift in the area at the time, or if you were in the area and have dashcam footage, or if you think you may have seen a distressed woman around that time.

    And no one heard anything
    In a busy hospital staff car park

    • Most rapes involve people known to each other, stranger rape is exceptionally rare. They can happen in quiet places as well as very public ones and everything in between.

  2. At that time in day would not be busy car park hopefully the lady is OK and does not suffer with nightmares and everything else which can come from being raped.
