
Police closed the road and a fire crew and ambulance was in attendance following a crash at Brooksend on the A28 Canterbury Road this afternoon (July 14).
The crashed car caught fire and the road was closed both ways by the Brooksend garage.
One passing motorist who stopped to help the male driver said: “It was great to see so many drivers and members of our community stopping and assisting the young lad, including people with extinguishers and those making sure he was ok.”
A Kent Police spokesperson said: “Kent Police were called at 4pm to a report of car on fire after being involved in a collision.
“Officers attended the scene on the A28 by Brooksend, Birchington. No injuries were reported. Kent Fire and Rescue Service also attended the scene. The road was closed until around 6pm so vehicle recovery could be carried out.”
A Kent Fire and Rescue spokesperson said: “KFRS was called to the A28, Brooksend, at 3:58pm to reports of a car alight after having crashed into small trees. One fire engine attended and crews used two hose reel jets to extinguish the fire. The driver was out on arrival and there were no reported in injuries.”
