Ramsgate man remanded on distraction burglary charges

A Ramsgate man has been charged in connection with distraction burglaries in Thanet.

Alex Steine, 46, of Southwood Road, Ramsgate, was charged on Thursday (July 11), with three counts of burglary.

The charges relate to reports of distraction burglaries in Broadstairs and Margate on Wednesday, July 10 where three properties were visited by a man asking residents for a jug of water.

At properties in Cinder Path, Broadstairs, and in Nash Court Road, Margate, items were then stolen. A similar incident was reported in Salmerstone Road, Margate but nothing taken.

Mr Steine appeared via virtual link at Medway Magistrates’ Court  yesterday (July 12) and was remanded to appear at Canterbury Crown Court on August 12.
