Police and RSPCA to investigate circumstances of dog’s death after fall from flat window in Margate

Emergency services

Police and the RSPCA are investigating the circumstances of a dog’s death after it fell from a window of flats above Margate’s Imperial Lounge yesterday (July 8).

Distressed onlookers, police and a vet’s assistant tried to help the Rottweiler but it sadly died. It is not yet clear how the incident happened but a witness said the dog had been barking from an open window and appeared to have slipped.

A Kent Police spokesman said: “Kent Police was called just after 8pm to a report of a dog which was fatally injured in Marine Drive, Margate.

“Officers attended the scene and are liaising with the RSPCA to establish the circumstances and whether any offences have taken place.”

An RSPCA spokesperson added: “We are aware of an incident involving a Rottweiler in Margate last night (July 8).

“We were contacted by the police who were on the scene and we will continue to liaise with them if our assistance is needed.”
