Man arrested following police pursuit through Ramsgate

A man is in custody following a police chase in Ramsgate this morning (June 26).

The pursuit began when police told a driver to pull over in St Luke’s Avenue at 11.15am. The driver refused to stop and witnesses say they saw the blue car, believed to be a Ford Focus, travel at a ‘dangerous’ speed through areas including Boundary Road, Clements Road, Conyngham Close and Nixon Avenue before it was dumped in Fairlight Avenue.

During the chase a police vehicle crashed into a bollard near Chichester Road.

A police spokesperson said: “Following a search of the area, a man was arrested in connection with the incident and currently remains in custody while enquiries are ongoing.

“During the incident a police car came into contact with a bollard.”
