HM Coastguard Margate and RNLI Ramsgate were called out yesterday (June 23) after two youngsters decided to explore Pegwell Bay and got stuck in the mud.

The UK Coastguard alerted the crews at 2pm following a 999 call that two people were potentially stuck.

Once on scene the lifeboat carried out a shoreline search whilst officers scanned and searched the beach area.

Further information was then received that the two children, with their bikes, had started to make their way towards Ramsgate. The crew was then asked to stand by until confirmation that the children were safe.

A report then came in from the local mobile Coastguards that two lorry drivers has spotted two very muddy children walking ashore to Ramsgate. ILB was then released and returned to station.
