St Laurence in Thanet pupils take trip to Tate Modern

Trip to London

Year 4 pupils from St Laurence in Thanet junior school in Ramsgate have visited London as part of an arts project

The youngsters took the high speed train for their day out at the Tate Modern gallery as part of The Pioneering Places Project.

An art historian showed the youngsters around the gallery and they had a wonderful time exploring the sculptures by Franz West and many of the other fabulous works of art displayed in the former power station.

Lucas said:  “In London we had a lot of fun, we looked at pictures that represented a word. The buildings were weirdly shaped, but kind of cool.”

Willow said:  “In the gallery we saw a massive colour changing picture! We really liked it!”

Deanna added: “This was amazing for us all!”

Teachers Mrs Catto and M. Spencer said they were particularly impressed with the children’s questions, responses and their impeccable behaviour throughout the day.
