Corner House boss releases first cookbook

Corner House owner Matt Sworder

Minster and Canterbury restaurant chef/owner Matt Sworder is launching his first cookbook this May.

The Corner House Minster was opened in July 2013 and has twice won the Taste of Kent Restaurant of The Year award.

Having come from a hospitality background, Matt set up The Corner House following a period spent working in London for top chefs including Anthony Demetre and Adam Byatt.

The ethos at The Corner House is all about seasonal and mainly local ingredients, cooked simply but well.

Having grown up in the garden of England, Matt knew there were few better places than Kent to roll out his concept and he has now built a solid reputation.

Simplicity is key in the The Corner House Cookbook. The book will include more than 40 recipes, carefully selected by Matt to represent the most popular dishes from the past five years. The dishes will be graded easy, medium and difficult, from a simple cauliflower soup to a slightly more challenging pea panna cotta with crab and apple.

The book will also celebrate the fantastic produce available in and around Kent and profiles of the restaurants’ key suppliers will also feature.

The Corner House Cookbook is available for preorder online at cornerhouserestaurants.co.uk/the-cookbook and will be available to buy from a range of stockists, including both of The Corner House restaurants, from May, costing £20.
