Ramsgate FC have announced  the inclusion of a women’s team for the club as they are joined by the former Thanet United Ladies.

Jim Cornish and Martin Wallace will head up the new venture for women’s and girls football.

Jim said: “I am pleased to accept the position with Ramsgate FC as joint Head of Women’s and Girls Football alongside Martin Wallace,

“Having established Thanet United Ladies last season to ensure my players had a team to play for, they have had a very successful season achieving promotion to Division 1 East.

“Going forward, we are proud to announce we will now be known as Ramsgate FC Women.

“Ramsgate FC have shown me their desire to get involved with the largest growing sport in the world, women’s football.

“The enthusiasm and support the club has shown in promoting and developing both women’s and girls’ football is welcomed by myself and the team.

“With a long-term project of entering new teams into girls and women leagues within the near future, Ramsgate FC will be a club that will grow in statue and reputation very quickly.

“We are looking forward to competing in the Women’s FA cup, domestic cup competitions and the Division 1 East next season.”

Martin added:  “I’ve been involved in girls’ football for a number of years and currently run a number of sides at Ramsgate Football Club.

“It’s fantastic that the club’s new hierarchy have supported us in bringing a women’s side into the club and I feel that having a senior team to work with, and aspire to, will hugely aid the development of our girls.”
