Mysterious ‘sign bombers’ wearing numbered blue boiler suits and masks have been out in Margate today (February 9).
A number of weird and wonderful signs have appeared around the town after being put in place by the group.
There appears, as yet, to be no explanation of who the guerrilla sign group is or the purpose of the signage but it is likely to amuse residents and visitors to the town who spot them.
Last year the Turner Way sign (pictured above) that appeared at The Rendezvous was the work of graffiti artist Chu as part of the Margate Festival.
Chu, from Margate Art Yard, has previously worked as an events consultant for graffiti artist Banksy and created a post-Great War, Birmingham backdrop for a Peaky Blinders night at the Lord Byron pub.
Methinks it is probably an art installation, a fun one at that. Made me laugh!
yes = probably funded by an Arts Council grant.
We need to keep all the out-of-work artists employed somehow . . .
Indubitably….
I think it’s great what ever it is ! All in good taste and nothing offensive yet well thought about and keeps margate interesting
