Officers investigating a report of an assault on a 13-year-old girl at Westwood are appealing for witnesses and anyone with mobile phone footage of the incident to come forward.
The assault is reported to have taken place in the car park of Sainsbury’s in Dadson Way shortly before 2.50pm yesterday (December 30).
The victim is believed to have been in a nearby cinema shortly before the incident. Her injuries are not described as serious although she attended hospital as a precaution.
Shortly after the assault a group of young people who had gathered in the supermarket car park were dispersed by officers.
Four girls aged 13 were arrested on suspicion of assault. They have been released while enquiries to establish the circumstances of the incident continue.
Officers have spoken to a number of witnesses but would still like to hear from anyone who saw the incident, or has mobile phone footage of it, and has not already spoken to police.

That car park is very secluded-on the rare occasions I have used the cashpoint there I have been very wary of who is around me.
