Newington primary pupils have got the Xmas Factor

The Xmas Factor at Newington primary

Forget Simon Cowell and his judges – Newington Community Primary School in Ramsgate had their own X-Factor when it came to festive talent shows.

Have You Got The Xmas Factor? saw a range of festive themed acts take centre stage in front of families and pupils who raised the roof to encourage them.

The judging panel gave their verdicts which were greeted by cheers (and jeers) in true X Factor style, while two pupils compared proceedings and kept everything running smoothly.

Among the performers under the spotlight in the fast-moving show were groups of costumed drummers, angels, shepherds, sheep, innkeepers, kings, Mary and Joseph. The finale was a rousing version of the Band Aid charity festive hit Do They Know Its Christmas?

The show was staged and performed by Year 6 pupils with teacher Matt Rigden directing, assisted by fellow teacher Taralee Kennedy.

Head Teacher Cliff Stokes said: “It was a really lively show in true X Factor style. We saw some spirited performances and the audience certainly played their part and let the judges know what they thought of their opinions.

“All the performers, teachers and staff involved should be thanked for giving us all a rousing end of term show.

“It certainly proved that when working together to create fun entertainment, Newington really has the X Factor.”
