A road in Ramsgate is blocked off due to a ‘collapsed’ building

Victoria Road in Ramsgate is currently closed off due to a ‘dangerous structure.’

Kent Fire and Rescue and Kent Police were called in just after 9am today (November 15).

The problem is thought to be a building that had been slabbed and has now collapsed.

A fire service spokesperson said: “KFRS was called at 9:04am to assist Kent Police. Crews left the scene by 9:18am.”

Thanet council’s building control team has been on site. A council spokesperson said: “The council’s Building Control team has visited the site and are working closely with contractors to assess the incident and ensure the area is safe.”

A Kent Police spokesman said: “Kent Police received a report of concern regarding the structure of an empty building in Arklow Square at 8.56am.

“Officers are attending the scene with Kent Fire and Rescue Service and the road has been closed temporarily so the building can be assessed by building inspectors.”
