The big light switch on

Westwood Cross will welcome ABBA tribute bands Björn Again to perform at the Christmas Lights switch on this Friday ahead of their UK tour.  The group will treat the crowds to a sing-along of some of ABBA’s biggest hits to get everyone in party mode and launch the season in glittering style.

Entertainment will start from 4pm, with Tyber, lead singer of popular band The Dualers, kicking off the event.  The party atmosphere will continue with performances from Pauline Quirk Academy, Panto stars from the Theatre Royal in Margate as well as Westwood Cross’ Young Performer of the Year, 11 year old Mabel Walton, Battle of the Buskers Winner Big Steve and The Worshipful The Mayor of Broadstairs & St Peter’s.

Westwood Cross will also be opening their new Toy Fort Grotto from Saturday (November 17). Children can meet Father Christmas and receive a special gift. It is recommended to book early, as the magical experience is expected to be extremely popular.

Francesca Donovan, Centre Manager at Westwood Cross Shopping Centre, said: “We can’t wait to reveal our brand new Christmas lights displace and stunning grotto.  This year the display features a new illuminated reindeer, swathes of twinkling lights and our snowman, Christmas pudding and elf ‘selfie pods’ to capture the most festive selfie.  The new lights scheme has approximately 75,000 LED with a total of 3,000 meters of light strings, you might need to bring some sunglasses!”
