Margate teenager arrested in connection with serious sexual assault in Folkestone

A teenager from Margate has been arrested in connection with a serious sexual assault in Folkestone.

The incident is reported to have happened in the Garden of Remembrance, Sandgate Road, between 12.15am and 1.03am on Saturday 6 October.

The suspect is described as being of medium height, of a muscular build with short, dark hair. He was wearing a coat with badges on and is believed to have been travelling in a silver four door saloon car.

Officers believe the victim, a 16-year-old girl, had spoken to the suspect earlier in the evening.

They would like to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and recognises the description of the suspect or the car.

A 19-year-old man from Margate  arrested in connection with the incident has been bailed until Sunday 28 October while enquiries continue.
