Coastguard and Ramsgate RNLI called to four children aboard dinghy washed out to sea

HM Coastguard Margate and Ramsgate RNLI launched this afternoon (September 16) to a report of an inflatable dinghy with four children onboard washed out to sea off Viking Bay.

Crews were called into action at 3.07pm. The RNLI Ramsgate crew reached the dinghy and found one parent at the scene in a canoe, with another swimming out to assist. Two of the children were transferred to the canoe and then the dinghy was towed back to shore with the other two children aboard.

An officer was on scene at Broadstairs and confirmed they were ashore safe and well. The team was then stood down.
