The trio have completed their 12 hour swim

Three teens have raised £930 for a good cause by completing a 12 hour swim.

The swimmers from Broadstairs took part in the challenge to raise money for the Rainbow children’s ward at Margate’s QEQM Hospital.

Emily 19, Ruhi 17 and Matthew 16, had to swim 12 miles in 12 hours at the St Lawrence College pool in Ramsgate.

The trio, who are members of Broadstairs Lifeguard and Swimming Club, have a justgiving target of £1,000.

The swim took place on August 25 with Ruhi completing 16 miles, Matthew swimming 14 miles and Emily completing 13 miles across the 12 hours.

Matthew said: “It was very exhausting and we were all feeling the ache the following morning. Although it was tough we thoroughly enjoyed the experience and the fact it was making a difference for the Rainbow Ward. In total online and offline we have raised £930 so far.”
