Final push for Thanet Athletics Club in Southern Athletics league

Thanet Athletics Club sent a strong team for the final leg of the Southern Athletics League on August 18.

The team comprised of a staggering 21 athletes, some of which competed in multiple events.

The track events saw Lewis Parsons, Connor Neal, Jack Shale, Konrad Farrall and William Jennings gain valuable points for the team, while James Bridge, Adam Jacques, Tim Reynolds and a debut performance from Steve Ramsamy throw and jump their way to adding to the points total.

Emily Giardina, Sophie Clayton, Katrina Booth and Amy Clayton competed well on the track and Emily, Sophie and Katrina also competed in the field events alongside Maddie Greenan, Bianca Schuster and Chloe Williams.

Adam Wall, Michael Showers and Ray Mitchel competed independently in non-scoring events.

The team finished 2nd in their match on the day and earned an amazing 171 points which meant that they accumulated a grand total of 517 for the whole season, and finished a respectable 12th in the league.

Last season saw Thanet Athletics Club finish 14th in the league with 374 points, so a huge improvement was seen this season.

Thanet Athletics Club once again would like to thank all athletes, coaches and officials who all give their time free and willingly, and all work hard in all areas to maintain the success of the club, again proving hard work and dedication really do pay dividends.
