Police appeal for witnesses after stranger makes suggestive comments and hugs woman in Cliftonville play area

Police are investigating after a man approached a woman in a Cliftonville playground, put his arms around her and then offered her alcohol and drugs while making suggestive comments.

The woman was approached by the man near the Viking playground in Ethelbert Crescent at 8.20pm on Tuesday (August 21) while she sat on a bench.

She told the man to leave her alone and approached passing dog walkers near the seafront who also told him to go away. He was last seen heading back towards the park.

The man is described as black, aged in his early 30s, approximately 5ft 11ins tall, well-built, with brown eyes, short black gelled hair and a beard. He was wearing a dark-coloured t-shirt and blue jeans.

Officers are keen to speak to anyone who has information about the incident or the identity of the man who acted suspiciously.
