Thanet’s Slimming World team has been nationally recognised for helping more than 1,800 people in the area to lose weight every week.
The group of 12, who between them run 24 slimming clubs around Thanet, were one of just five teams nominated for the accolade of Slimming World Team of the Year 2018.
They were pipped to the post by the Bracknell team during the national Slimming World Awards ceremony, held in Birmingham.
Sarah Egan, who runs the team as well as her own group in Ramsgate, said: “We’re all delighted to have been nominated for Team of the Year. What’s great is that it’s a real team effort and every single consultant in our team is agreed that we have the best job in the world.
“We’re passionate about helping people to change their lives by losing weight and seeing them succeed is the most important thing to me. Being nominated for an award like this is a wonderful bonus though!
“We’ve worked really hard to make sure that members who join the groups in our area get the highest level of service and the weight-loss success they deserve. It’s great to be able to tell people in Thanet that they have one of the best Slimming World groups in the UK and Ireland on their doorstep.
“It’s not just a triumph for us but also for the 1,800 members in the Thanet groups. They’re the ones who make it the success it is, with their fabulous energy, the warm welcome they give to new members and the wonderful compassionate support they show to each other every week.”
The Thanet team have all used Slimming World for their own weight loss. They
receive in-depth training from the Slimming World Academy to help give their members the support they need to make long-term changes to their eating and activity habits.
