Thanet’s Stage Door Theatre to bring Annie to the Theatre Royal

Annie comes to the Theatre Royal

The sun will come out this summer as the award-winning Stage Door Theatre Company, based in Thanet, presents loved family  musical Annie at the Theatre Royal, Margate.

Stage Door Theatre Company has built up a name for producing top quality productions with a community focus. Previous shows have included Hairspray, Rent, Billy Elliot, Miss Saigon and Les Miserables

Annie is set in 1930s depression hit New York City. Annie is forced to live a life of misery and torment at Miss Hannigan’s orphanage. However, she is determined to find her real parents. Her luck changes when she is chosen to spend Christmas at the residence of the famous billionaire, Oliver Warbucks. Spiteful Miss Hannigan has other ideas and hatches a plan to spoil Annie’s search and so the story unfolds.

Musical numbers include “It’s a Hard Knock Life”, “Tomorrow,” “Easy Street,” “N.Y.C.” and “You’re Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile.”

If you can’t wait until then to see the cast they will be visiting the Summer Kitchen scheme at Drapers Mills school in Margate this evening.

Theatre Royal programme manager Pam Hardiman said: ““It’s great to see local people supporting each other in this way, and I look forward to welcoming some of them to the Theatre Royal to see Stage Door’s brilliant production of Annie.”
