Your guide to the Dreamland Block Party

This Saturday (July 21) the Dreamland Block Party will be taking place across the amusement park.

Included with park entry, the Block Party takes inspiration from New York street parties, blending street style, music, dance and sports. Professional BMX flatland rider and three-time Guinness World Record holder Matti Hemmings will be presenting a BMX competition and designer to the stars, Siobhan Hogan, will be fronting an interactive marketplace.

There will be DJs and MCs playing funk and soul, rap and hip-hop, B.supreme will be leading hip-hop dancing and Yo! Street Zone will be teaching football skills throughout the event. Pie Factory Music will also be hosting activities in song writing, recording and DJ workshops – all from their minivan studio! The Dreamland Block Party is free with park entry.

New rides, including the Dreamcatcher, are also on offer.

In the evening there will be an outdoor show on the Scenic Stage from grime artist Big Narstie and supporting acts.

What’s on offer

New rides: Be one of the first people to experience Dreamland’s new rides! From the thrilling Dreamcatcher, a modern take on the much-loved classic Enterprise ride that transports riders sixty feet through the air, to the Air Force, an exhilarating ride replicating the experiences and sensations of an acrobatic plane flight.

Panna football with Yo! Street Zone

Street sports: Flatland BMX and Guinness World Record holder, Matti Hemmings, will be hosting competitions in our Roller Disco with some of the hottest talent in the industry. Yo Street Zone will be flexing their street football skills – giving you the chance to try and beat the masters of the panna arena!

Fashion: Meet some of the latest fashion trendsetters in the interactive marketplace and customise your kicks. Learn how to start up your own fashion label and meet ASOS marketplace favourite fashion designer Siobhan Hogan.

Art: Join local artistCharlie Evaristo-Boyce, in screen-printing his AMAZING collaborative art piece on the park’s giant Mural-by-the Sea billboard. Tell Dreamland what makes ‘your’ Margate or ‘your’ Block experience AMAZING.

Dance: B.Supreme are dedicated to supporting, nurturing and championing opportunities for emerging female hip hop talent. B boys and B girls will take to the stage in pure B.Supreme style to showcase the wealth of talent we have in the UK.

Music: Pie Factory Music will be leading music workshops on how to put on your own music events, while FUN DMC will serve up a slice of old school hip hop dance rave to soundtrack the day.

Youngsters of all ages will have the chance to dress up and dance. Also set to entertain the crowds and described as “London’s premiere hip-hop party” are The Doctor’s Orders, who will be at the park for a feel-good history of hip-hop DJ set. With regular events at Fabric, East Village, The Jazz Café and Scala to name a few, their previous guests have included De La Soul and Jazzy Jeff.

 

Puggy Smalls: The famous gangster pug will be in the park all day so be sure to go and have a selfie with this insta-famous canine.

Evening event on the Scenic Stage

Grime artist Big Narstie will headline Dreamland’s outdoor Scenic Stage with a supporting line-up including classic garage act, Oxide & Neutrino and Jammz.
