Diversion in place following crash by Minster roundabout

Emergency services

A collision has closed the road on the A299 eastbound from Minster Roundabout to Canterbury Road West this afternoon (July 16).

One person has been taken to hospital with a head injury following the two vehicle crash, believed to involve a van and a car, just past the Minster roundabout towards Ramsgate.

A Kent Police spokesman said: “Kent Police was called at 4pm following a two-car collision at the Minster roundabout.

“Officers attended and one lane of the A299 is currently closed. The driver of one of the vehicles has been taken to a local hospital with a head injury.”

There is congestion at Cliffsend roundabout on the westbound side.

A detour is in operation  via Manston but there is queuing traffic on the Spitfire Way eastbound.

  1. There are far too many accidents on the Minster roundabout. All the road markings on the approach need looking at and revising, to clearly show who has right of way and where.

  2. That detour had to be the worst one ever. All those roads and they sent them down spitfire. Well done.
