Junior boat fishing contest will raise funds for Ramsgate RNLI

This year’s junior boat fishing competition in aid of Ramsgate RNLI will take place on Friday, August 24 between 10am and 2pm.

The competition, sailing from Ramsgate harbour, is for youngsters aged up to 15 and angling experience is not necessary as there will be experienced anglers on hand to help and advise.

Competitors will be asked to get sponsors and will be provided with sponsor forms. As little as £10 is all that is needed and all money raised goes to Ramsgate RNLI.

A trophy is awarded to the winning Skipper.

Following the competition there will be a barbecue and prize-giving with free ice cream to all entries, courtesy of Lady Ann charter boat of Ramsgate.

Sponsor forms and consent forms are at the Ramsgate life boat station and Fisherman’s Corner tackle shop.

Last year a total of over £3000 was raised for Ramsgate RNLI and local firms and individuals were generous with donations of prizes and food for the barbecue afterwards. There were 55 entries and everyone won a prize.

The event is organised by Jason Parrott and his wife Dawn who are hoping businesses will again make raffle and prize donations.

Businesses which donate can have banners up at the event and there will be media coverage.

Jason said  “Many thanks to the crew of Ramsgate Lifeboat and  all of Ramsgate charter boat fleet that give up a day’s money so this event goes ahead.”
