Photos and video: A bumper day of Thanet events

Thanet has had a Sunday of bumper family fun with the Ellington Park May fair and the Pilgrims Hospices It’s a Knockout in Ramsgate and Thronefest at Quex in Birchington.

Thousands of people turned out for the isle events despite a grey start to the day.

At Ellington Park there was live music, stalls selling a variety of goods, a fun dog show, steam train rides, stalls and games of all kinds, funfair, beer tent and food stalls and lots more.

All proceeds go towards the regeneration of Ellington Park.

Over at Government Acre teams battled it out on inflatables and obstacles to be crowned the It’s a Knockout winner.

The event featured outrageous costumes, feats of agility and water and foam.

In Birchington, Quex Park was taken over for the first Thanet Thronefest event featuring cast members from the hit HBO series, Game of Thrones, medieval re-enactments, jousters, archery, wolves, replica props including The Iron Throne, and even a  16ft smoke-breathing dragon.

Actors including Tom Wlaschiha (Jaqen H’gar) Kristian Nairn (Hodor) Dean Charles-Chapman (King Tommen Baratheon) and James Cosmo M.B.E. (Jeor Mormont)  were some of the celebrities from the show who took part.

There was also an Iron Throne, an unusual Raven display and replica swords, props, crowns, house shields and helmets.
