An Army bomb disposal unit has carried out a controlled explosion in Broadstairs this evening (May 13).
The team were called to an unexploded hand grenade on Broadstairs beach.
A controlled detonation was carried out at around 7.45pm.
Resident Ryan Gerlack caught the operation on camera and video.
A Kent Police spokesman said: “Kent Police received a report of a UXB on the beach in Broadstairs at 5.47pm on Sunday 13 May.
“Officers attended near to Harbour Street and contacted Explosive Ordnance Disposal experts from the Ministry of Defence.
“The army bomb disposal team carried out a controlled detonation at approximately 7.50pm.”
The Ministry of Defence has been asked for further details.
