Westgate man jailed for sex offences against children

Anton Oddy has been jailed for sex offences against children

Indecent offers of money in exchange for explicit images of children have led to a prison sentence of two years and eight months for a Thanet man.

Anton Oddy was arrested by officers from Kent Police following reports that he had been engaging in indecent conversations with girls online.

He went on to plead guilty to eight counts of attempting to incite a girl to engage in sexual activity .

He was sentenced at Canterbury Crown Court on April 11.

The court heard the 24-year-old, of Sea Road in Westgate on Sea, committed the offences over a two month period in 2016.

During this time, he would offer money in exchange for explicit images and, following his arrest, a number of indecent images were found on his mobile phone.

Detective Constable Katie Coleman, the investigating officer for this case, said: “Oddy has shown himself to present a high risk to young girls online and his imprisonment means he can no longer endanger them.

‘If there are any victims of sexual exploitation reading this that are yet to contact Kent Police I would encourage them to call us on 101 so that we can support them and help them pursue justice.”

Concerned councillor Suzanne Brimm has since reported three live facebook profiles believed to belong to Oddy.
