A La Turka restaurant confirms Ramsgate seafront opening

A La Turka (shown here in Herne Bay) has confirmed it will open a Ramsgate restaurant

A Turkish restaurant which is already a huge success in Herne Bay and Canterbury will open on Ramsgate seafront in the premises being exited by The Bench.

A La Turka has announced the move on its facebook page, saying: “We are happy to announce we’re expanding our family by opening a new restaurant in Ramsgate in a beautiful location just a few steps from the beach across the street from the newly renovated Victoria Pavilion.

“Keep an eye on our Facebook pages for the exact opening day! Looking forward to welcoming you with the same excellent service and food!”

The move has also been confirmed to The Isle of Thanet News by the restaurant.

The Bench closes its doors on April 15 with bosses Jordan and Jeremy Godden clearing the venue by April 18. A La Turka is expected to open sometime in May.

The Herne Bay and Canterbury restaurants serve dishes from Gaziantep in Turkey. Owner Mehmet Dari (pictured)  is the third eldest of nine siblings from a family of farmers from the settlement of Gaziantep.

He came to the UK in 1998 and, having always had a love of food and cooking, knew he wanted to open his own business in the industry.

He spent a few years working in different establishments to understand the food business in the UK  and opened his first food outlet in 2000 and first restaurant in 2006.

In 2013 he opened A La Turka in St Dunstans and Northgate in Canterbury with Herne Bay following in 2015.
