Coastal Crafty Crew fair postponed due to weather conditions

The Coastal Crafty Crew have had to postpone their first fair of 2018 due to the weather conditions.

The fair was due to be held this Saturday (March 3) at Church House in Birchington from 10am to 3pm.

A Coastal crew spokesman said: “We have reluctantly decided that due to the weather, the craft fair on Saturday, March 3 will be postponed. We have contacted all of the stallholders but we need to make prospective visitors aware.

“We have not taken this decision lightly, and indeed we have never had to cancel an event before, but we have to bear in mind the safety of all of our stallholders and members of the public who may decide to visit. Although the temperature on Saturday is due to rise by a few degrees, we do not think it will be enough to dissipate any laying snow and ice in the car park and paths to the venue, and as organisers it is incumbent upon us to take into account any slip hazards that may still be present when entering Church House, and indeed the temperature of the hall itself, particularly with the main doors being open.

“We plan to rearrange the fair for either March 10 or March 17 and are trying to contact Church House administrators to ascertain availability on both of the dates.”

Margate Civic Society has also cancelled its meeting, due to be held at the Walpole bay Hotel this evening (March 1).
