A boy has been struck by a car in Cliftonville

An eight-year-old boy has been taken to hospital after being hit by a car in Cliftonville this morning (February 27).

Kent Police was called at 8.04am  to a report of a collision in Sweyn Road.

The incident involved an Audi A4 and the boy, who was taken to hospital for treatment. It is understood the youngster’s injuries are not life threatening.

A Secamb spokesman said: “Ambulance crews in one ambulance and a car attended the scene following reports a child had been hit by a car. The child was assessed and treated before being taken to William Harvey Hospital in Ashford.”

The road re-opened at 9.25am.
