Three arrested by armed police in Cliftonville

Armed police have arrested three men in Cliftonville.

Officers were called to Northdown Road at 12.30pm today (February 26).

A Kent Police spokesman said: “At around 12.30pm, firearms officers from Kent Police stopped a car in Northdown Road, in Cliftonville.

“Three men were arrested on suspicion of assault and public order offences, as part of an investigation being led by Cheshire Police and currently remain in custody.”

A Cheshire Police spokesman said: “At 11.37am on 25 February police were called to a car wash in Clayton-By-Pass in Congleton following an altercation between a group of men.

“The suspects fled the scene in a car leaving the victims, who sustained minor injuries, at the scene. Police made a search of the area.

“Further enquiries led to police in Kent stopping a vehicle and arresting three men on suspicion of assault and public order offences.”
