Safety Last! at The Palace Cinema

The Palace Cinema in Broadstairs will be showing Safety Last! In the second of its monthly Sunday Silents events.

Palace Sunday Silents are an opportunity to see classic films from the silent era on the big screen, with live piano accompaniment by Lillian Henley.

Lillian is a performer and composer with an amazing track record of work, including for the British Film Institute and the Barbican Centre.

The Harold Lloyd comedy Safety Last! (U) is coming up next Sunday, January 28 at 4.30pm. Harold plays a young country boy new to the big city, all set to make his fortune and marry his loving girlfriend.

He soon discovers that success is harder than it looks, but thinks he may have discovered a short cut when he hears about a competition to win $1000 to anyone who can draw big crowds to a department store… he convinces his pal to climb the building with him and split the prize, but on the big day finds himself on his own!

Palace Sunday Silents are presented by the Palace Cinema in partnership with Wall of Sea.
