£1,000 cash boost for Thanet Volunteer Bureau

Thanet Volunteer Bureau

Thanet Volunteer Bureau has been awarded £1,000 after making a successful bid to the Persimmon Homes Community Champions fund.

The cash will be used to support employing a new volunteer outreach worker to promote the benefits of volunteering.

The donation has been added to funds already raised by the bureau.

Kerry Smith, who made the successful application on behalf of TVB, said: “TVB fulfils a critical role by engaging and supporting volunteers to fill gaps in public service provision.

“This generous donation will be applied to the cost of employing a volunteer outreach officer charged with promoting the benefits of volunteering, recruiting volunteers, delivering skills training courses, matching volunteers to organisation and supporting them to maintain their roles.

“We have now raised £11,000 for the coming year, and will have to deplete our reserves to cover the remainder.”

Tom Wright, managing director of Persimmon South East, added: “We are pleased to be able to support TVB and the valuable work they do supporting volunteers in the community.

“It is a fantastic service and I am sure the benefits of the service will be enjoyed by many more people once the outreach worker is employed.

“Persimmon Homes South East has had a fantastic response to its Community Champions scheme and it is always a difficult choice from so many worthy causes.

“If people were unsuccessful last month, we urge them to visit the Persimmon Homes website and to try again and hopefully they will become our next Community Champion.”
