A seal has been spotted on the beach at Minnis Bay.

Members of the British Divers Marine Life Rescue team were called to the beach after being notified this afternoon (January 6). Member Sheila Stone said the seal had gone back into the sea unaided.

The BDMLR is an organisation dedicated to the rescue and well-being of all marine animals in distress around the UK.

It was suspected the seal may have been the poorly animal that the team were called out to last month but this one was much smaller.

However, it is still thought to be poorly and underweight. Sheila said: “The seal went back into the sea after a while but seems very underweight. If he comes out again please can people let us know. We are expecting him to turn up at Westgate tomorrow.”

If you spot the seal call BDMLR on 01825 765546.
