A manor house in Broadstairs could be demolished to make way for 9 homes

North Foreland Manor

A proposal to demolish North Foreland Manor in Broadstairs and replace it with nine homes has been submitted to Thanet council’s planning department.

The application has been made by Taylor Roberts Ltd on behalf of landowners Mr and Mrs Roberts.

The couple plan to keep one of the new homes for themselves.

The site already has permission for 14 homes but the new application reduces the number of properties to nine detached houses.

The bespoke home being kept by the applicants will have a swimming pool. A second property will also be retained by the couple for future downsizing.

Planning documents for the project state: “Over the past three months the dwellings have been carefully designed to meet market aspirations and take advantage of long distant eastern sea views.”

Each home will have a garage and balcony area. The development is a mix of 3,4 and 5-bed properties. Parking for 28 vehicles will be provided.

A decision on the new application is yet to be made.

  1. Such a shame such a beautiful manor house could be demolished to make way for more homes in this lovely spot of Broadstairs. Sounds like it is all about money making and using up all the land available. Large gardens like the manor house has is important for wildlife and beauty but nobody cares anymore, just cram as many houses in as possible, and who wants gardens these days are the thoughts of these grabbers.
