Kent Police is objecting to an application by The Goose pub in Ramsgate to further extend its opening hours over the Christmas holiday.

The pub, in Harbour Street, wants serve drinks until 3am Christmas Eve morning and 2am on Christmas Day – an extension of one extra hour each morning.

But Ch Insp Sharon Adley has lodged an objection on behalf of Kent Police, She said: “The premises are in a residential area with many calls (of) antisocial behaviour and crime…(in this) immediate area.

“The premises licence already allows specific conditions for extensions during key holiday times. However the premises want to extend the already extended hours. This will have an impact on local residents.”

Councillors on the Licensing Sub-committee will make a decision on the request when they meet on December 19.
