A gift day has helped raise an incredible £8,000 to fund St Peter’s Church in Broadstairs over the next year.

The event last Saturday was well supported by visitors. It included the bell ringers ringing for half an hour followed by visitors having a try for themselves; the church organist Patrick Dunn played a recital followed by the choir singing a variety of well-known hymns.

Jill Hogben was there to talk about her book ‘The History of St Peter-in-Thanet’ and the ladies laid on refreshments with home-made cakes.

With one-off donations, increased regular giving and gift aid to be recovered, the church will benefit by nearly £8,000 over the next 12 months.

St Peter’s Priest in Charge, The Rev’d Jan Durrans (pictured) said: “I am absolutely delighted with the response which will enable the church to plan more effectively and make the best use of its resources to meet the its ministry and mission aims.

“Thank you very much to everyone for their kind generosity.”
