Police have arrested a driver accused of fleeing the scene of two Margate crashes in one day

Officers investigating reports of two road crashes involving the same car in Margate on Friday (September 1) have arrested a man.

The first collision, involving an Audi and a Mazda, is reported to have taken place in Crow Hill Road at 7.40am.

The second, involving an Audi and a Yamaha motorbike, is reported to have occurred in St Michael’s Avenue at 8.09am.

In both incidents the driver of the Audi failed to stop.

A man in his 20s from Ramsgate  was arrested in Broadstairs later that morning on suspicion of driving while disqualified, driving while unfit through drink, possession of cannabis and two counts of failing to stop following a road traffic collision.

He was also arrested on suspicion of affray in connection with a disturbance at the Sundowners Wine Bar in Albert Terrace, Margate, on Sunday 6 August.

He has been released pending further enquiries.
