The site around the old Ramsgate Police Station has been cleared – with a car park offering all day parking for £3.50.
The station, which has been empty for more than a decade, was sold at auction last year for £1,975,000.
Now part of the grounds have been cleared for the car park being operated by Euro Parking Services, which is offering spaces at 70p an hour of £3.50 for 12 hours.

The site is accessed from Effingham Street.
The nearest council car park in Cavendish Street is £1.10ph with a maximum stay of four hours at £4.40.

The Courthouse car park is the latest to spring up since the announcement of the parking fee hike in April which raised costs by 20p an hour at many sites with some going from £1.60 for the first hour up to £4.

Dreamland also opened the Arlington car park with a daily charge of £7, a fiver less than the council operated one at the rear of the park.
In Joss Bay an enterprising farmer is also letting motorists park on his land for £5 a day.
A petition against a hike in charges at five seasonal car parks was thrown out last week when Thanet council decided to implement its own resident’s scheme instead.
I assume and hope that this is only a temporary measure. This site should be used for housing . The sight of car parks in the middle of towns is not only depressing but an indication of how dominant the car has become in modern society. Ramsgate town centre is an example of the damage caused by out-of-town shopping centres.
WHAT A SITE????? STILL DERELIC, NO HARD SURFACE….NO LIGHTING….NO SECURITY??? NO DESIGNED LINES FOR PARKING??? NO PRIOR NOTICE???? IT IS DERELIC AND NOT SUITABLE FOR A CAR PARK. THIS SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED IN THE CENTRE OF RAMSGATE. WHO ARE “EURO PARKING” ???
IT WILL ATTRACT DRUNKS, DRUGS, CARAVANS, LORRIES ????
