The Ice House in Westgate has a special giveaway to celebrate its first birthday

The Ice House in Westgate celebrates its first birthday today (July 22).

The former video store in St Mildred’s Road was given an extensive refit to create the Ice House run by couple Ash Ashbee and Jane Welch.

The pair opened the doors to the ice cream parlour with a twist 12 months ago and are going from strength to strength.

The Ice House doesn’t only cater to ice cream lovers, it also serves pizzas, tapas, house bites and is fully licensed so adults can enjoy a glass of wine or beer.

Ash, who is also a Thanet district councillor, said: “We have a whippy machine for the ‘99’ soft ice cream lovers or 22 flavours of Kelly’s scooping ice cream and two sorbets.”

Specialities include an amazing ice cream and candyfloss combo, traditional big dishes such as banana splits and knickerbocker glories and ‘top pick’ flavours such as bubblegum for the kids and pecan for the grown ups.

There is even a treat for your four-legged friend as the Ice House stocks special dog ice cream.

Today the parlour is celebrating with a special giveaway.

Ash said: “To celebrate our birthday at the Ice House we will be giving away a Mrs Whippy soft ice cream with a flake to the first 22 customers of the day.”
