Kent Police is investigating following reports of youth fighting in Broadstairs on Wednesday.

Complaints were made of a disturbance during the town’s music and fireworks event. One witness said there was a need for more security after volunteers at the event were subjected to abuse.

Many bystanders were, however, unaware of the issue and praised organisers for a great night.

A Kent Police spokesman said: “Kent Police is investigating a disturbance involving a group of youths which is reported to have taken place in Victoria Parade, Broadstairs, at around 9.15pm on Wednesday 19 July.

”No serious injuries were reported and, at present, no arrests have been made.

“Enquiries into the matter are ongoing. “

  1. Its started with 2 youths being attacked by 15 youths. When they took refuge in Margate Ambulance Corps ambulance the volunteer crew were under attack and luckily my husband can handle himself. Thanks to the local resident whom backed up my husband and the off duty policewomen who know the youths and calmed the situation down. This could have been a serious matter. No volunteers from Broadstairs Fireworks event were seen at the time of the disturbance but witnessed it. It was a vicious attack on a voluntary first aid post. To the point they tried breaking in to get to the two boys they wanted to kill. Unfortunately their too scared to come forward. Proper security should be supplied by the council. Please write the correct story.

    • Thank you Lyn but I had to write what was confirmed by police. Apparently the volunteers did not make an official complaint
