Couple’s joy at arrival of ‘Dreamland baby’ Ivy Violet

When Stacey Umbers visited Dreamland on June 24 little did she know the only ride she’d be getting was to the hospital.

The expectant mum, wife Candice and sisters Olivia, 14, and Zoe, 10, had only made it as far as wristband office when Stacey’s waters broke.

The 29-year-old, from Margate, was in the queue when the baby decided the time might be right to make an arrival.

Candice, 45, said: “Stacey turned round and I said ‘I think your waters have broken.’ The lady in the queue behind us was a midwife and she put Stacey at ease and then off we went to QEQM.

“Stacey and baby were declared fit and well and came home. The next day she had a consultant appointment anyway and they decided that because her waters had broken she should go to the labour suite.”

Finally, on Tuesday, June 27 at 7.12am little Ivy Violet was born weighing in at 6lb 6oz.

The couple, who have been together 5 years and were married in December 2015, are delighted with the new addition to the family after two years  struggling to have a child through private donors.

Stacey said: “I had got to the point where I was going to give up but Candice persuaded me to keep going. Then, we were camping with my niece who was four, and I did the pregnancy test.

“We have decided that her first birthday will definitely have to be at Dreamland with all the nieces and nephews.”

Candice added: “There have been lots of ups and downs, lots of tests and we thought this wouldn’t happen but now we have our little one and it is wonderful.”

Yesterday (July 2) Stacey, Candice, Olivia, Zoe and baby Ivy Violet made a return trip to Dreamland, making Ivy Violet possibly the park’s youngest customer!

Ivy Violet will be christened in October at the Union Church in Margate.
