The Ministry of Defence has confirmed that an Army bomb disposal team carried out a controlled explosion at Pegwell last night (June 29).

The Royal Logistics Corp Explosive Ordnance Device team from Folkestone dealt with the wartime bomb which had been dug up during an excavation by power cable workers.
A spokesman for the MoD said: “It was a routine disposal of conventional World War Two munitions.”
