Teddies and new pupils share a picnic at Chilton Primary School

New pupils and their teddies have visited Chilton

Teddy Bears of all shapes and sizes gathered for a special ‘getting to know you’ picnic as their owners enjoyed their first visit to Chilton Primary School in Ramsgate.

Pupils from the Reception Class of September 2017 took their first steps into their new school with their furry friends and their families for a picnic, including an assortment of sandwiches and soft drinks.

Much-loved bears large and small were hugged as children gained confidence in their new surroundings and with their future classmates.

And it wasn’t just bears on show as other soft toys from little pink elephants to a large Chewbacca wookie from Star Wars joined the throng.

Children also had the chance to play with a variety of games and toys, read from an array of books, and meet Chilton staff.

Head of School Kate Law said: “We work hard to integrate our new pupils in the summer before they start in Reception. It was a lovely picnic and an ideal way for them and their families to feel relaxed and happy in their new surroundings.”

Chilton Primary School is part of the Viking Academy Trust with Upton Junior School in Broadstairs and Ramsgate Arts primary School.
