Fire crews from Ramsgate were called out to Trove Court tower block again last night (June 24).

The emergency call was received at 11.30pm to  yet another fire in the rubbish area. Three fire engines attended the scene at the 15-storey block.

It comes just three days after police renewed an appeal for information following a spate of suspected arson attacks at the block in Newcastle Hill.

Firefighters have been called to Trove Court numerous times over the past three months due to fires inside a rubbish chute that they believe are being started deliberately.

The last incident was reported to Kent Police at 12.19am on Monday 19 June.

Kent Police confirmed officers were also called to last night’s fire.

A spokesman said: “Kent Police was called by Kent Fire and Rescue Service at around 11.30pm, regarding a fire in a rubbish chute at Trove Court in Newcastle Hill at Ramsgate.

“The fire was put out by Kent Fire and Rescue Service and is being treated as suspicious by officers who are conducting further enquiries into the incident.”

Inspector Lara Connor, of Kent Police, added: “While the cause of this and previous fires remains unknown, the belief is that they are being started deliberately.

“It goes without saying that starting fires is incredibly dangerous and puts lives at risk. It also potentially diverts resources away from other more serious incidents.

“We want to see an end to these reports and I would encourage anyone with information to call the appeal line on 01843 222289 quoting reference 24-1574.!
