Transmission has been named in the UK’s top 10 record stores

Transmission in Northdown Road

Transmission  in Cliftonville has made it into a list of the top ten record stores in the UK.

Red Bull picked the shop at 105 Northdown Road as an emblem of the growth of Londoners moving to the town.

Branding it as one of the “ finest destinations for fresh wax – the crème de la crème of the shops that continue to build the country’s record collections,” the article by the energy drink giants says: “The slow exodus from London to Margate continues, and Transmission is perhaps the best emblem of that move.

“Founded by ex-Rough Trade man Spencer Hickman and visual artist Kimberley Holladay, the shop stocks a carefully curated range of records focusing on soundtracks, post punk, and the more experimental side of metal.

“Transmission is also a must-visit for Japanese pressings, with the store advertising a selection “direct from our buyer in Tokyo.”

The store opened in 2015 and can be visited  Thursday -Saturday noon until 5pm and Sunday noon-4pm.
