The county council election count for Thanet has started

Ballot boxes have been emptied and the count process has begun.

The mood is muted with the Winter Gardens hall virtually empty compared to the 2015 local and general counts.

MR Sir Roger Gale, Tory, and UKIP council leader Chris Wells are among those present.

Tory members say they are feeling positive. KCC is currently Conservative controlled with UKIP the main opposition.

Thanet has 7 seats up for grabs. There were 8 seats in the 20th election.

7 were taken by UKIP and 1 by Labour.

Turn out this year for Thanet is 31.3%. Highest was Broadstairs with 37.7% and lowest was Margate at 24%.
