A woman has sadly died after being struck by a train in Margate last week.

Officers from BTP and Kent Police, as well as ambulance crews, were called to Margate railway station just before 2.30pm on Friday (21/4), to reports that a person had been hit by a train.

The station was evacuated while emergency services attended to the incident.

A 59-year-old woman was taken to the trauma centre at King’s College Hospital in London by air ambulance with multiple injuries.

Sadly she died  later that evening.

Her next of kin have been informed and the incident is not being treated as suspicious.

A file is being prepared for the coroner
