A man has suffered serious facial injuries in an attack in Margate.

Kent Police is investigating the reported assault in Dane Park, Margate that happened between 3.30pm and 3.45pm on Monday 10 April.

Officers received a report that a man in his 30s was sitting in the front seat of a blue Vauxhall Zafira car when he was assaulted by another man. The second man is described as white, of stocky build with short dark hair, wearing a black t-shirt and black shorts, and carrying a black rucksack.

The victim suffered facial injuries that are described as serious and he attended a local hospital for medical attention.

A 28-year-old Margate man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of assault and has been released for further investigation.

It is believed a number of people were in the Dane Park area at the time and police are asking anyone who witnessed the incident or has information that can help to contact Kent Police by calling 01843 222289 quoting reference ZY/014159/17.
