A Margate animation company has produced an innovative and fun film for Eurotunnel.
A & C Animation, based at The Old Laundry in St John’s Road, has created the flick with toy manufacturer Playmobil.
This Easter, Eurotunnel Le Shuttle will be joined by the children’s toy firm at the Victor Hugo Terminal in Folkestone to run a special activity for kids during the school holidays.
To mark the event, Eurotunnel Le Shuttle wanted to create an Easter message and decide on the film showing Playmobil cars being loaded onto a Le Shuttle train.
With a production time of only 11 days, the project not only involved animating current Playmobil sets, the model making team at A+C also had to create a bespoke Eurotunnel Le Shuttle train and carriage.
Eurotunnel Social Media and Content Manager Luke Edwards said:“Given that we contacted A+C at short notice, we were very impressed with the speed at which they delivered this project for us.
“From storyboard to post-production, the whole experience working with them has been incredibly smooth, quick and we’re pleased by how flexible they’ve been. They were just as excited by this idea as we were.”
A+C director Dan Richards said: “Being based in Margate, we were delighted to work with our neighbours Eurotunnel Le Shuttle to create a film featuring Playmobil. Usually the majority of our work comes from London and international advertising agencies, so it was great to be able to work with a Kent company right on our doorstep.”
The video will be running on Facebook and Twitter as a competition post to give social media followers the opportunity to win a selection of Playmobil toy cars.
Luke said: “Video is hugely important to us – by 2020, 75% of mobile traffic will be driven by video. Therefore, this opportunity to create a video using Playmobil toys has allowed us to show a fun way of demonstrating what makes our service so unique and help increase awareness of both of our respective brands. We’re sure people will love it.”
A+C Studios has a team of animators, story tellers, technicians and makers. They combine hand crafted traditional animation techniques with the latest digital technologies and software to create award-winning animated content.
Dan added: “We have our own quirky, but massive, 5,000 sq ft studio in Margate – The Old Laundry – where we play with scripts, storyboards, sets and puppets, animation and visual effects to take an idea from brief to delivery. We also provide post-production services.
“To date A+C have produced animated content for clients including LEGO, American Express, Unilever, Cheerios, Samsung and Oreo. Our work has been broadcast on TV, cinema and online.”
